A custom illustration-led label for an upcoming limited edition craft beer.
DISCOVERY pHASE – brief & RESEARCH
Intial Brief
A custom illustration-led label for an upcoming
limited edition craft beer.
The Schnauzer & Beagle Brewery crew approached me for this project to create a custom illustration and label for an upcoming limited edition craft beer.
Objective
Create a custom illustration and label for a special edition craft brew.
Target Audience
Craft beer and dog lovers
Stylistic Requirements
The illustration on the label was to have a green theme and fit in with existing labels which were currently in the themes of blue, brown and yellow, using an established brand font.
Technical Requirements
The label was to feature zirben pine cones specifically – the main ingredient of the limited edition craft brew – as well as a Bernese mountain dog with mountains and pine trees in the background.
The illustration was to be created for a label print on a beer bottle with space for ingredients on the sides.

DESIGN PHASE – CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Moodboard
Although in this project a moodboard was provided by the client, I researched further into zirben pine cones, Bernese Mountain dogs, the Schnauzer and Beagle Brewery business and its established brand as well as potential colours.
DESIGN PHASE – CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Sketches
Several thumbnails were made to test shape language, setting, composition and to capture the personality and final pose of the main character, before coming to the final concept.

Final Results
After colour iteration and feedback, Schnauzer Beagle Brewery crew were stoked with the final label results, asking for blue and yellow versions soon after to act as alternative seasonal beer labels.
